Which to choose? Love or F430?

In a perfect world, we would probably not need to make choices. But because we live in an inperfect world, sometimes we have to make certain decisions, whether we like it or not.

And on a lazy sunday evening, i let my mind wonder and hit on an interesting dilemma. As a guy, we love sports cars, you name it, we will drool over it. But of course, some of the more fortunate ones will be able to get their hands on one. That aside, I would seriously wonder, how will a guy fare, if he is given a choice to choose whether to have the perfect love OR the new Ferrari 430 spider, a 4.3 liter V8 with a century sprint dispatched as fast as you can write the word "Apple"

Here are 2 pictures of the F430:

Picture this:
Would you rather be driving the F430 down the ECP, with the roof off, feeling the wind blowing across your face, with a nice setting sun casting warm orangy glow on the horizon infront of you OR having to face a gf who is tempermental, unreasonable, demanding and controls you with a yank of the leash she has over you?

Which one...?

4 months ago, I would have choosen the F430 without thinking. But now, I would need to pause and ponder for a while. Why? The reason is simple.

Loneliness. Not now but in the near future.

As I have mentioned before, once friends around you get married one at a time, slowly, you will soon realise you are left with not much of an assured companionship over the weekends. So what if you have a car that goes 0-100km/h in 4 seconds flat? you can't out run the loneliness no matter how powerful a car you got. Because no matter where you run to, there is only you.

Kappyo said to me on friday night, that if there is one person out there that I might like, I should take the chance and go for it. After all, according to her, it's a 50/50 chance(of which I totally disagree, citing my probability formula of findng someone i like n her liking in return).

Fair enough, but if the girl rejects you, you probably need a car like the F430, equipped with a limited slip differential (E-Diff in Ferrari speak) to get away as fast as possible from the girl out of awkwardness. And sometimes, there are too much to lose to even reach the state of risking it all. In a F430, the only thing you stand to lose is your driving license.

Yet, I know we still need to risk it, to find the right preson, because loneliness is a terrible thing to bear. So what if you have an F430? Even with 490bhp@8500 rpm and 465Nm@5250 rpm at your command, all you will manage to do is to burn a hole in the ozone layer and you will still find yourself feeling lonely.

Having said that, and to put things into perspective, choosing the F430 means no risk but be prepared to live a hermit life. Choosing love, means having to risk it all to find companionship but you will not be called a crab.

Until I know that my probability increases, I know what I'll choose.

Of 7th month and a nice cityscape picture

Sometimes...a little can mean alot...

Was (and still is) helping wendy with her audit work... and it was pretty tough...with quite a number of information to look out for... a very draining exercise...

yet when i saw an egg tart on my desk...it somehow brightens up my day...by alot... I guess it's quite nice to have good friends (notice i never use the word collegues) around you in the course of your work...especially friends that care...and i have quite a handful of such friends around with me... thanks Wendy~

And that brings me to events of last weekend...it was quite a packed week for me...but the highlight of the weekend was this:

The veggie and fried rice was done by shuy, steam fish and egg with chinese sausage was done by suhua and i did the braised chicken in oyster sauce and a blueberry cheese-biscuit (which had a little bit too much cheese)

But it was great fun.

Pertapis

Ok.... normally i don't blog about work....and I can't...but i'll make an exception... because a good part of my work this afternoon was for community day!

I had the chance to go down to Pertapis (http://www.pertapis.org.sg), a muslim run Charitable organization to help gather logistical data for our annual community day and the experience was quite enriching, in more ways than one...

well besides doing something different from normal work, i got to interact with people from the malay community and hear sad stories about how and why certain old folks or kids end up at pertapis.

Short of saying cliche stuffs like "i guess i'm pretty fortunate" and the like, I believe what's best is for us to make the best of our situation, no matter what they might be...and these are what the children staying in Pertapis does...and we should learn from them.

We really should.

Whisper of the Heart - Country Road (Jap Version)

No one is with me
Going fearlessly
That's the way i live
in the dream i saw

I must put my loneliness away
and protect myself and i'll learn to be strong

Country road, it'll take me, back to my home town
I can feel it now, if i just keep to this far-off way,
country road

It won't matter how lonely the times get.
You'll never see me cry
I'll keep my tears at bay.
I know i must take heart
And that hurrying is all i can do
only that way, can i forget

Country road, it may take me,
Back to my home town, but even so

Steeling my heart, i will not go now
Not while i'm free

So it's goodbye
Country road

Belated, Belated, Belated Birthday Celebration

Hokai, due to unforeseen circumstances, what was supposed to be a birthday dinner dragged into a belated birthday dinner....2 weeks down the road.

But nevertheless, we had our birthday celebration for doc and dude@ marnia square. Kenny Rogers to be more precise...

Everything about kenny rogers is different. The tables are different, the utensils are different, the plates used are different. Thankfully, the food is still as good. Especially macaroni and cheese, which is both me and dude's all time favourite...if that was heroin, we will be hard-core heroin addicts ...

The 3 of us...of which we asked a waiter to help us take this photo...poor guy...dude torment him by asking him to retake the shots until she got a good picture...

Of green juices and CBD skylines

This witches' brew was Winnie's... somehow she had a tiny cauldron of greenish liquid too vile to name the ingredients...but they all started with letter "v", abeit with different species of these "v" ingredients.... However, it looked like THAT only after she decided to drop in a bubbly Vit-C tablet into it....YET, I think she drank every single drop of this....

CBD revisited...was spending the afternoon with Max over at the riverside and talking about life in general... and this IS my life in general...especially from Mondays to Fridays....

Lastly... Jo, it was really really great talking to you on Friday night.... enjoyed your company. Too bad Peppa didn't come along... perhaps next time =)

Pork with Oregano and Apples

ok....today is the day where i attempted to cook again after a long period of non-practice. This dish is of a creamy sort and it goes very well with spagetti or rice...

Anyhow, these are the ingredients i need:

pork
2 green apples
1 large onion
150 ml cream
Oregano
1 tablespoon brandy
2 tablespoon brown sugar

Firstly, you need to melt butter over the wok and stir fry the onions and apples, adding brown sugar over a period of 4 minutes or until the apples turn golden brown.

After which, the pork gets fried and you mixed everything together, including the cream, brandy and oregano, with a little bit of salt n pepper...

And it's ready to serve!

Verdict: I took this receipe off a cookbook with slight improvision. I used oregano instead of sage and i used chinese rice wine instead of brandy. The final product was a little bit "flat" in flavour and i believe adding cheese and halving the amount of cream will help improve the flavour somewhat... and THAT, will be next when I try it again with dude.... =)

A walk down memory lane....

In the morning I had buffet dim sum with ZJ, YJ, Jason and shugang at Dragon Gate restaurant@WTC....

The fried water chestnut is great.... and yj ticked the wrong column which resulted in us having 2 baskets of char sao bao which we threaten to stuff it down his throat if he doesn't finish all of them =)

Of which later, me, yj and zj went down to botanical gardens(more pic in the prev post) and we had quite a fun time posing for some crap shots like the one shown here, with us acting as swordmen of the past fighting in a bamboo forest...naturally we didn't suceed as we did not have a bamboo hat nor old chinese clothings....=)

At night, I met up with a few of my old primary school classmates, with some I did not keep in contact with for 14 years.... 14 long years... and we chatted about the past over carl's junior burger... strangely, I can't remember much about the past, perhaps my brain only have 1Gb of storage space....

After which we went to jewel box in mt Faber for a drink...a place where I used to play marble and run around as a kid... now it's a pub.... a pub that covered my memories of the past under layers of wooden flooring, nice lounge ambience and a live band....sigh....

3 of the best shots i've taken in Botanic Gardens...

No inspiration today....so these are the best shots i got *shurgz*... must be the dim sum buffet that clouded my brain....

Training Day

Today was training day. The title of the course was Ethics and Independence... Essentially, you are not suppose to have any interest (financially or relationship wise) in the client you are engaged to audit.

Training was held at M hotel and the tea break was good. We have choc. eclairs, chicken wings (very very good) and garlic bread with prawn(exquisite!). That was naturally the highlight of the course.

The blue shoe belongs to me. The red belongs to someone else. *ahem* Anyhow, these 2 pairs of shoes carried us through 4km of track while admiring the little river beside the jogging track, complete with birds performing dives into the river to catch fishes.

Hee.... little fliibee sneaked into my bag and i carried it all the way to work. haha....that little devil.... but she's no longer with me...she's in taiwan now....with her.

An artistic shot of Terence's home.

And to make it even better, I managed to sit in the E60 BMW 5 series! One of my dream cars(which of cos i would not buy here for obvious reasons)

A post without title....

I pondered. Pondered on the difference between work and study life. There isn't many differences. They are typically the same. Yet. The people around you isn't the same. They are different. Human behaviour typical of a working adult is much different from the behaviour of a studying adult. And these differences amplifies our experiences in the working world. It is far more enriching than the experiences we enjoyed during our study life.

Time plays an important role too. People are like wine. It takes time for them to mature. The longer the maturity, the better the wine. People you meet in working life have different piorities from people you meet in school. Perhaps as we grow older, we tend to see things in a more complicated manner, adding to the experience. Just like wine.

Yet, it is times like these that we need friends whom we can trust and rely on. Friends whom we can seek shelter when the world gets too complicated. A safe harbour where we can rest and recharge ourselves. To seek companionship and sometimes, even solitude.

Without friends, we are all like little ships sailing in the deep blue ocean, at the mercy of the elements....

你是我曾经的甜蜜
我是你爱情的过去
那一段美好的记忆
我们都不能够忘记
因为我很爱很爱你
所以能微笑着离去
虽然我不会在见你
幸福是我们曾经在一起
