Meaninful Lyrics and a not so meaninful product
Today was having K-lunch with 2 other friends when I sang Guang Liang's version of 勇气. (As above)
While I was glancing though the lyrics, this particular phrase caught my attention...
人潮拥挤我能感觉你
放在我手心里你的真心
mmm... this suddenly reminds me of the probability equation I wrote a few months ago on my blog regarding relationships. Really, what is the chance of finding someone who you can truely love and be loved in return? Heh. I dunno. And somehow, I don't think I really want to know.
Anyway, in other unrelated news, i've test driven the Chery QQ today

Ok, First the good things about the car. It's cheap, it's economical to run, it's feature laden and best of all, it has suprisingly good and comfortable rear seats. The engine is pretty zippy as a town runabout. And the speedo is classy, though a bit small for the visually challanged.
Now, the bad things about the car.
The looks. Who on this world, in the right frame of mind, want to drive this car without placing a plastic bag over his head? The looks is too cutsey for a guy to be seen driving it...heck...it makes the most macho guys out there seems utterly gay the moment they get behind one of these.
Secondly, if the macho guy did decide to drive one of these, he will probably break the gear lever which is terribly notchy and gives you the feeling that the gear box is gonna give way. And to top it up, the clutch biting point is sooooo high that it gives a switchy feeling. You are either in gear or you are not. And the SE gave a very ingenious reason for it. She said, "the clutch is high so that you do not stall the engine easily". If I wasn't polite, I would have laughed. Having a on-off switch for a clutch isn't a good way to prevent stalling, me thinks.
Thirdly, the suspension is bad. Having a small track size and sporting a torsion beam suspension (I think), it's very bumpy on the road. you can pratically sway from side to side even on slightly uneven roads.
Fourth, the brakes. I'm sorry to say this but it is rubbish. I've seen bicycles with even better stopping grip then the QQ. Even when you depress the brakes all the way, the car doens't feel as if it's stopping. It's utterly utterly alarming. I think we are better off using our feet as brakes.
As a point A to point B car, well, for the money, 33K for the manual, erm... i think i'll be better off taking public transport and save the 33k.
Of Hakka dishes and Chinatown
After the usual run at east coast, we went down to maxwell market to eat! Along the way, i sighted this nice looking parade of red and white lanterns and so decided to take a picture of it...
But the best part was the food! We decided to try something new and hence, Hakka dishes is the theme for the evening. We had erm, yam balls and beef noodles. Of which, I think the yam balls are nice but you wouldn't want to have them as your main dish, unless you like chewing those chewy balls from the start to the end.

Feeding turtles makes you happy...
Greedy turtles! they are quite fun to watch when u feed them food...cos they will scamper over to grab the bread before the fishes does. Sadly, i suspect that there are species of fishes that are not suppose to be there and that they are upsetting the balance of the ecosystem, hence the hungry turtles.
Sunbasking turtles... they look so relaxed... I wish I can be free too....

Little Lost Sheep
It's not easy. Once you have it. Grab it. Or risk losing it. Forever.
Do not be a little lost sheep. It's not easy running away. In fact, it's worse. Much worse.
Too much pain. Too much hope. Too much "what ifs". Don't.
Because you know, deep down, in the years ahead, you will look back and regret it. Look back and regret that you ran away. Because you will realise that all these while, you are merely running at the same spot. you never really moved.
That will be the real regret.

Department Dinner
After Community Day at the zoo, our department went to oriental hotel, melting pot cafe for our annual department dinner. I'll let the pictures do the talking...
Ok, here u have 2 types of meat. Beef and erm...lamb....
The roast beef I had it with blue cheese mustard (which is good) while the lamb i have it with mint jelly (which is heavenly. Frankly speaking, i should stop eating lamb because i don't feel good eating an animal that has not even grown into adulthood yet...it's quite sad)
RS/3 grp photo!

Villa bali
Sunset over Villa Bali.... a rural area where you can still feel the vibes of the late 60's... old rustic place... it's a step back in time...quite a nice place to chill out...
which is exactly what we did!
If my memory serves me correctly, we ordered:
stuffed chicken wings, spicy lamb wrap, thai seafood fried rice (which is very good), tandoori chicken and cheese naan which goes well with the tandoori chicken.
For drinks, we had,
2 Chardonnay, 2 rum made by gays living in mountains (i think...cos it's called mountain gay something rum) and a fine tawny (nice port!) and a bottle of perrier sparkling water
Absolutely great place (except for mosquitos), nice music, nice ambience and nice everything.
Great way to end the week.
Interesting day...
Big house. Big car park. Big nice place. I wonder how much do I need to earn to afford such a house? Mmm, time to count the pennies in my little piggy bank... *count count count....*
East Coast is fun as usual. Our group comprises of LR, HC, AHP, YC & her BF. Had a sinful BBQ buffet at the end of it, topped with 3 cakes and 2 scoops of yam ice cream. Hopefully, it will be a weekly event...

Pillars
Pillars are supporting sturctures that form the basis for support. I realize i have strong pillars supporting me when i'm down...
No.
Pillars isn''t the right word to use. Weave is. We are the threads that are interwoven into each other's life. How we support and strengthen every other in this fabric of friendship and love depends on how strong the weave is woven.
And I'm glad. Glad that in times like this, my fabric of life is bounded by strong weaves. And i only have you very wonderful friends to thank for.
Zhen, sh and kuan for being there almost the entire day.
Also, lorlor & AHP for even noticing i have a sian face (i really do meh? =p )
Thanks for all the concern.
And for being my wonderful threads.

A Fairy Tale, Part III
The little lost lamb soaked in the view of the moons setting on the grassy plains. The setting of the moons had always intrigued the little lost lamb. To it's little eyes, such a scene always remind the little lamb of sadness, because, without the moons' shine, the land will be exceptionally dark and depressing, a neverending blanket of smouldering loneliness.
But with the setting of the moons, the little lamb knows that the sun will rise, bringing hope to the land. The little lamb has always took comfort in the sun's ability to rip the blanket of darkness into shreds with the rising of the rays and gently caress every living thing with it's warm touch.
Yet. The little lamb had never really experience a rising sun. In its heart, the little lamb knows that it exists and yearns for the day where the sun will rise and wash away the blanket of darkness that envelopes it's world.
But the little sheep had seen its fair share of shooting stars. They brough temporary hope and illumination into the world of the little lamb and when these shooting stars fades into nothingness, so does hope.
It's a wearingly painful experience for the confused lamb.
And sometimes, leaving this world may be a better choice. So it did.
Hence, that was how the damsel came to find the little lamb one day, tottering along it's castle, looking lost. The little lamb liked the new world it found. And best of all, it enjoyed the little dandillons and fresh grass shoots that had never grown in its own dark world. If it could, it would like to stay on this castle world forever. Yet, the little lamb had seen how the damsel was working hard on making the sun rise and it pondered. Even the princess was working hard for a piece of the sun in her own world. It pondered deeper.
"We are all travellers, seeking out that piece of the sun to light up our own little world"
It dawned on the little lamb that it shouldn't be idling if the other two companions were working hard to carve out their own little world...
"We travel from world to world, seeking what our heart desires. damsel does this by living on this castle world. princess does it by seeking actively throughout the worlds"
By now, the little lamb understands.
"The castle world is transient. The only permanent place is the one I escaped from"
It knows it has to go back. Go back to the world to set things right. To let the sun rise.
But for now, the little lamb is contented where it is.
*BaaAAaaa~*

A Fairy Tale, Part II
*chomp chomp chomp*
The little lost lamb lay sprawed on the wide open prairie, nibbling on young grass shoots, with the wind caressing it's white shiny fleece. The little sheep gazed dreamily at the clouds and noticed a speck of black growing larger in the sky
little lamb: BaaAAaaaa~ ?
boom!!
The startled little lamb scrambled into the safety of the castle and peeked it's head out behind the safety of a castle door.
Before long, the cloud of dust settled and there laid, sprawed on the ground was a princess, with a twitching broomstick beside her.
"stupid *toot*! stupid *toot* of a *toot*-ing broom!", she shouted, pauses, inhales and explodes into a series of explatives long enough to go round the world, twice. "*toot* *toot* *toot* *tooooooottttttt~*"
Ok ok, in fairy tales, princesses are suppose to be sweet and lady-like, but if they had lost their way, crashed landed on some foreign land and feeling very very upset since eternity, well, i'm sure they are entitled to some verbal form of relief.
She stops when she saw the damsel and the little lamb peeking out from the safety of the castle door.
Damsel:"Knight in shining armor? no?", apparently she was still dreaming of a knight in shining armor to rescue her...
Lost lamb: "BaaaaaaAaaaa~~?"
Damsel:" Do you know where I can find a knight in shiny armor??"
Princess with a faraway look in her eyes: " ..... look, i really need to find the heart stone, it's.... it's important to me....that's where my source of happiness lies...only the heart stone can give me happiness...no one else can...only the heart stone...... "
Legend has it that when the princess was born, a wizard told the queen that since her daughter was born under the stars of Akrium and Deros, her little princess will never be capable of happiness and love. The only cure lies in a legendary heart stone, a magical stone capable of great happiness and love. And so, the princess have been seeking for it ever since she knew about it.
Upon hearing this, the damsel suddenly exclaimed, "Really???? oh you poor thing.... Then what are we waiting for? Let's go find it!"
And so it was, two girls and a little lost lamb formed the fellowship of the heart, sat on the flying broom stick and set out in search for the legendary heart stone. Hours passed into days, days into weeks, weeks into months, months into years. The trio trekked onto every mountains they can trek, crawled into every crevises they can crawl and fly into the biggest cloud they can see. All in search of the heart stone. But to no avail.
Where could the heart stone be?
"wahhhh, i'm doomed for eternal unhappiness!", exclaimed the princess and collapsed on the ground, looking hopeless and lost...
Quietly, both the damsel and the little lamb sat beside her. No words were exchanged nor required. Just a gentle nudge from the little lamb and a comforting tug from the damsel was needed. And that was enough.
For the first time since she was born, the heart that was supposingly void of love and happiness, had a tiny murmur of emotions....
A tear rolled down the princess eye, not of sadness nor helplessness but of realization.
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.

A Fairy Tale, Part I
A long time ago, in a land far far away, there stood a tall towering castle. And at the top of the tall towering castle, there lived a damsel, naturally in distress. She had often longed for a knight in shining armour to come to rescue her from the castle, where she was trapped in ever since...well.... the truth is, she willingly trapped herself in the castle because she always wanted a knight in shining armor to rescue her. And so she waited patiently in her castle for her dream to come true...
One day, she noticed a little lost lamb lumbering around her castle pasture and decided to call out to the lamb
Damsel: "hey there little lamb!"
lost lamb: "BaaaaaaAaaaa~"
Damsel: "yes yes, i know you are lost, here, why don't you stay with me?"
lost lamb:"BaaaaaaAaaaa~"
And so, the little lost lamb stayed around the pastures of the castle, lumbing in the castle shadows for shade and sleeping near it's walls at night for warmth. One day, while the lamb was resting in the shade, a knight in shiny armor indeed galloped up to the castle. With curious little eyes, the lamb raised it head and peaked it's tiny little ears and looked...
Sadly, the damsel was too eager for her knight to rescue her that instead of waiting for the knight to come to her, she bursted out of the castle door with arms wide open.... Startled, the poor knight fled in shock, with the damsel chasing after him. Because he was so fully clad in armour, he stumbled over a few times. And each time, the damsel will try to help her fallen hero to his feet. But the knight will just run further. Dejected, the damsel stopped chasing after her hero. Suddenly, the knight stumbled, yet again, over another pothole and couldn't get up. Because the damsel wasn't there to help him, the poor knight could not get up on his own.
Pretty soon, the knight ran out of strength and laid there in a heap of metal and sweat, a far cry from his original proud self. Summing courage, the damsel walked up to him and gingerly helped the knight to his feet.
And this time, the knight didn't run away. He was too tired to run anyway. Having all his energy spent, he can only turn his head and noticed the crazy damsel who was chasing after him.
Yet, for the first time, he noticed that it wasn't really a crazy damsel that was chasing after him, but a sweet and demure damsel with the hope of being rescued by a knight in shining armor.
The knight wondered, "Is there anything wrong with that? Why was I running then?"
The little lost lamb watched all these from the cool comfort of the castle's shade, chewing on his favourite dandilions...
